Another jolly to Florida
Although hard to believe, it’s been almost a year since my last trip to Florida, so I am heading back again on 10 January for some more fun in the sun, a couple of theme parks and of course some flying too!
Having endured the cheaper, nastier and non-direct American airlines in the past, a direct flight is again a must, but with British Airways’ direct services to Orlando costing in excess of £600.00 return, I will instead be flying into Tampa and then driving the hour or so to Orlando. With a substantial saving to be had and the comfort of an unnecessarily big hire car for the short trip, it’s a no brainer.
The primary reason for the trip is the annual revalidation of my flying ratings – specifically the multi-engine piston and instrument. Although not cheap, it’s a lot of fun. Even after spending hundreds of hours in the air above Orlando and the rest of Florida during 2009 and 2010, the novelty still hasn’t worn off.
No doubt a short trip review will appear here where I return.
