A Christmas break to Warsaw
Okay, so the image is a little misleading. It’s not Christmas in Warsaw but rather just before Christmas in Warsaw. After visiting Warsaw (and Poland) for the first time over the August bank holiday weekend, I am returning again on Friday 4 December for three nights.
It’s sure to feel a little cooler. When leaving the city at the end of August, the temperature was a very pleasant 36 degrees. Compare that to the average December temperature of -2 degrees! There’s unlikely to be very much al fresco dining and ice cream this time around.
Still, with the Christmas markets in full swing, there will be plenty to keep me busy and lots of walking to keep me warm. At the end of the day, there’s a rather nice hotel and swimming pool to return to – the 5* Mamaison Hotel Le Regina, Warsaw. As much I as enjoyed the Sofitel last time around, I was keen to try somewhere different this time, and, with lots of stars, great facilities and a brilliant location, the Mamaison ticks every box.
Flights are again with British Airways, although this time funded using Avios. With the airline constantly moving the goalposts with their Executive Club frequent flyer scheme; it’s harder than ever to accrue Avios and spending them doesn’t offer the same value that it did once upon a time. Spending the miles now before they become worthless makes sense!
After just one visit, Warsaw was a city that I wanted to visit again and again. I am really excited to be returning so soon and look forward to sharing pictures of my next adventure here and on Instagram.
